Jeerakathi Rice — Bengal's Prized Aromatic Health Grain

Jeerakathi rice (also known as Jeera Kathi, Jeerakati or Zeera Rice) is a distinct and traditional non-basmati rice variety grown exclusively in the fertile soils of West Bengal, India — particularly in the districts of Bardhaman and Birbhum. Its name comes from "jeera" (cumin in Bengali) because the grains are thin, slender and shaped like cumin seeds.

What makes Jeerakathi truly exceptional is its remarkable nutritional profile — a naturally low glycemic index and up to 50% less carbohydrates compared to regular white rice, making it one of the most health-conscious rice choices available. It has a gentle, pleasant aroma, cooks to a fluffy non-sticky texture and delivers a subtly nutty flavour that elevates both everyday meals and festive preparations.

At SDEY Global Trade, we export premium Jeerakathi rice sourced from verified West Bengal mills — in 1kg, 5kg, 25kg and 50kg bags, FOB from Kolkata port, with full APEDA certification and export documentation for global buyers.
